Counterpart Wins USAID Civil Society Activity in Iraq

May 22, 2024

Counterpart International is pleased to announce the launch of a new project in Iraq to strengthen civil society. The five-year partnership with USAID for the Civil Society Activity, or Tafa’aol (تفاعل), comes at an opportune time to support Iraqi civil society to better serve their constituencies.

We are excited to support local Iraqi organizations, utilizing proven tools and approaches that we have implemented around the world. Counterpart will support local partners in advancing their core missions, while building their resilience and sustainability. We have applied our systems-oriented capacity strengthening tools in other countries, such as Morocco and Bangladesh, where local partners adapted to emerging windows of opportunity. In Iraq, we will work with a network of local partners to innovate, exchange learning, ensure active engagement with local governments, and increase citizen participation in decision-making.
