Training the Next Generation of Human Rights Defenders in El Salvador

October 2, 2024

Youth have the power to become agents of change in their communities. Counterpart’s USAID-funded Rights and Dignity project, in partnership with Fundación Gloria de Kriete, held a series of workshops for students from universities across El Salvador to educate them on their rights, civic duties, and rule of law. The students participated in interactive trainings that encouraged debate and reflection on youth’s role in society. They learned how to become defenders of human rights and gained a better understanding of the importance of youth participation in civic spaces.

During the closing ceremony on September 21, USAID’s acting deputy assistant administrator and action director of the Center for Democracy, Human Rights and Governance, Don Chisholm, engaged with the students at the end. Watch the video below to learn more.
